The early roots
CDYLC was active in the 1970s. Those early camps paved the way for its re-establishment in 2008 and the experience that continues today.

ABOUT DYC / JSC
Deaf Youth Canada (DYC) is a non-profit organization under the Canadian Association of the Deaf – Association des Sourds du Canada (CAD-ASC). Our goal is to raise awareness within the broader Deaf youth community about Deaf leadership and our beautiful sign languages.
CDYLC was active in the 1970s. Those early camps paved the way for its re-establishment in 2008 and the experience that continues today.
A group of Deaf youth leaders established Deaf Youth Canada in 2008. That summer, they organized and hosted the first camp in DYC’s biennial Canadian Deaf Youth Leadership Camp series in Sylvan Lake, Alberta.
Although camps for Deaf youth had taken place across Canada before, CDYLC 2008 was the first to be run entirely by Deaf youth.
DYC is proud to have hosted eight successful camps since 2008, with fantastic support from Deaf youth leaders.
Deaf Youth Canada is organized exclusively for charitable, social, and educational purposes for Deaf residents of Canada and Canadians between the ages of 18 to 30 years old.
Deaf Youth Canada pursues the following ends:
Deaf Youth Canada is governed by Deaf youth.
Deaf Youth Canada promotes the unification of Deaf youth across Canada by organizing and stimulating the exchange of information and experiences among Deaf youth.
Deaf Youth Canada ensures the inclusion of Deaf Youth in all national and provincial organizations and associations of and for Deaf people in Canada by partnering with national and provincial organizations and associations for the Deaf across Canada.
“By youth, for youth, about youth.”
